I have never had any serious training, yet crossfit is interesting in a way that regular training is not! Read about my journey here!

The day of PRs - Paleo challenge: day 17/30

Today was another of those days where I could not eat as much as I usually do. It might be my body getting used to this kind of food and adjusting its amount thereafter. I feel really energized throughout the entire day, even with eating less. The day at work was pretty awesome and having a lot of excess energy resulted in me being extremely productive.

After work, i drove directly to the box and listening to great music on the way there. I read at home that we were about to do CrossFit Total with 5 tries instead of the usual 3. As many of you know, CrossFit Total is about finding 1RM within a limited amount of tries.

The first exercise we went for was backsquat. My old PR was 85kg, set a long time ago. So naturally, that was my first attempt, which I had absolutely no problem lifting at all. I quickly bumped the weight up to 90, just to bump it above 100kg. My last attempt was 102.5kg, which I got without much trouble. I could probaly have taken a little more, now I think about it. But the cool thing about that last weight, is that I can now cross off a goal from my list! My current bodyweight is just around 101kg, which means I squatted more than my bodyweight!

After squatting, it was time for shoulder press. My PR was 52.5kg, which I started with this time. Unfortunately i struggled really really hard to get this one up, but I got it up. I felt that going for anything higher would be dumb, now when I struggled so much with it.

The last exercise of the CrossFit Total is deadlift - something I have had a lot of trouble doing correctly. Due to bad technique, I have never lifted more than 85kg, so that was my starting point. Last time I attempted lifting that much was over a month ago, and I know my technique has improved. I lifted the 85kg extremely easy, so we bumped the weight up a lot, up to 100, 120, 130 and finally 140kg. I actually lifted the 140kg barbell without struggling a lot. I mean, it was heavy - yes, very heavy, but I felt confident about taking 10 more if I had time. I called it a day though, smashing my previous PR with 55kg! I am also able to cross out two goals in my CrossFit 2012 goals, one being “deadlift current bodyweight” and the other being “deadlift old bodyweight

My final score ended up on 295kg - something I’m extremely proud of. Only 3 months of training and I already lift that much!

After doing CrossFit total I wanted to do more, so I thought that my technique work on my power clean must have paid off, so I went into doing a power clean ladder. 60kg was very easy, the same with 65kg. I bumped the weight up to 70kg and to 72.5kg, lifting both without any major issues. My PR was 72.5kg and I felt confident to destroy that. I attempted 75kg and made it, just as easy as if it was 65kg. I bumped the weight up to 77.5kg and managed to lift that aswell! As it is a ladder, I have to keep going untill I fail, so I attempted 80kg as the next. I was very very close to lift it high enough, but I did not manage to get this one right. But I still beat my PR by 5kg, just with a weeks intense technique work. It really shows how important technique is!

Yesterday we worked on our snatch technique, but never got a chance to work on our 1RM, so I figured that I would attempt that aswell. I got ready to do a snatch ladder and started out with 30kg, 40kg, 45kg, 50kg and got them all. I started struggling with 52.5kg, but managed to get it anyway. I attempted 55kg, but it was a tad too heavy and I could feel that my legs were getting really really tired.

It was a absolutely fantastic day in the box and I still feel really high after it!

Great day overall - day 10/146

So today started with the usual bacon meal and i have to admit, that I have fallen in love with this kind of breakfast. I really enjoy getting up a little earlier to make a great meal. I dont feel hungry at all during the early hours at work, and when it comes to lunch, I’m not really that hungry, so I just eat a plate of salad and some fish and i’m getting through the day quite easily, compared to before I worked out and did paleo. I used to have that feeling that craved for food, just a couple of hours after lunch.
