I have never had any serious training, yet crossfit is interesting in a way that regular training is not! Read about my journey here!

Turning paleo into a habbit - Paleo challenge: day 2/30

I woke up a little late, which sucked hard - it gave me almost no time to cook lunch, but I got it done anyway. It was the standard boiled vegs and bacon (we’re out of eggs), but then after looking in the fridge I wanted to try something new, so I ate grapes - and a lot of them for breakfast. That turned out to be absolutely awesome. I like seedless grapes a lot and this just made my day!

At work, i was constantly a little hungry - not that really hungry, just a little tiny bit. Yesterday my girlfriend brought home almonds for me to eat and snack upon, so I brought a bag of that and put some of those in a cup, so I could snack on that the entire day. That turned out to be great, whenever I felt a little hungry, Id just eat a almond or three and then it was gone. Its amazing how much so little can do!

I arrived at the box with a buddy of mine ready to go nuts for todays workout. My buddy had never tried CrossFit before, so he was supposed to take the intro class, but he insisted on wanting to try the regular class with me. The WOD of today is pretty simple:

50-35-20 of:

  • Wallball shots
  • pullups
  • double unders

It does look pretty simple, but those wallballs are absolutely insane - they totally killed my legs throughout the entire workout. I got started and went through the wallballs in sets of 10, which turned out to be extremely tough after 30. The pullups after were even worse. I did them in sets of 2, just because I’m stubborn and refuse to do band-assisted pullups. It just took forever to get through the first round of 50 reps, but i got through them! But after 34:27 I was done!

My friend however, totally died after the first round and was struggling a lot with the rest of the workout. It was funny to see how I was in the beginning :)

After the workout I wanted to do some olympic lifting, so I worked a little on my technique on my clean and jerk, and I also attempted to beat my PR, doing it ladder style. My PR at the time was 65kg, but I had no serious problems with 65, so I attempted 67.5kg, which went great and also 70kg, which I also got. I also attempted 72.5kg, but I couldn’t clean it high enough. Now the problem is that I want to do power cleans - i dont trust myself enough to do the squat clean yet and this is definitely something I need to work on.

Another beastly workout! - day 11/146

This morning I wanted to do something different with my breakfast, so I tried making fried eggs instead of scrambled and it turned out pretty well (as you can see on the picture i posted earlier today). Tomorrow i’ll try adding some broccoli to the mix and perhaps also onions or what I feel like. I got this weird feeling about breakfast - I think i’m actually looking forward to it!

At breakfast I had the chance to get a lot of fish, so I took buttloads of smoked salmon and a bunch of salad at the side to complement the fish and it was really great. This paleo thing is turning out pretty well - i’m really getting in to it. But i’m not living full paleo yet, i’m still having the occasional snack, protein bar and energy drink once in a while, but i’ll go full paleo when we get to august and a month from there. August 11th my uncle is getting married and after that, i have nothing scheduled, which means I will attempt to live strictly paleo for 30 days straight.

Great day overall - day 10/146

So today started with the usual bacon meal and i have to admit, that I have fallen in love with this kind of breakfast. I really enjoy getting up a little earlier to make a great meal. I dont feel hungry at all during the early hours at work, and when it comes to lunch, I’m not really that hungry, so I just eat a plate of salad and some fish and i’m getting through the day quite easily, compared to before I worked out and did paleo. I used to have that feeling that craved for food, just a couple of hours after lunch.

Best and worst workout yet! - day 9/146

This morning was different. I felt really energized when i woke up and I still felt really full from yesterdays dinner. I had some leftovers from yesterday, but I just couldn’t eat it. It really felt wrong eating on full stomach, so today I did not get any breakfast. I could feel my mind needing the bacon, so tomorrow I will make some for sure!

I arrived at the box at the usual time (which is early), to work on my doubleunders and to do a tabatha-doubleunders. I managed to score 4, which is acceptable, but they were harder today for some reason. I really had problems getting into the flow, but coach mentioned that the robe might have been too long, and I need to adjust it to fit my height. I have bought my own, so i’ll have plenty of opportunity to practice at home, and also when i’m at Roskilde Festival! :)

Back in the box working them snatches - day 8/146

When I got up today, I got up pretty early. I felt great at about 6:30am and I took myself great time to cook a proper meal for breakfast. I didn’t want to make scrambled eggs, but I wanted to make a kickass omelet. Unfortunately I did not have any eggs in the house. Bummer! So for breakfast, I had bacon with bellpeppers and onions. To my big surprise, it turned out pretty great. It tasted great and there were no spices in there at all. It was just bacon making stuff taste great - or are my taste buds changing? Is that even the correct way of phrasing it? It’s probaly not, but I believe the meaning comes through :-)
